Q&A with Jennifer Redwolf, Assistant Store Manager, Ten Thousand Villages
How long have you been in business or been in your role and what is the thing that gets you out of bed every day?
I’ve been in retail management since 2004 and I truly enjoy it. I’ve been with Ten Thousand Villages going on 7 months. What gets me out of bed every morning is knowing I have a place to work and knowing it will be different every day.
When you were younger, did you ever see yourself doing what you do now?
I always knew I wanted to be in a space where I interact with an array of people.
What would you tell your younger self if you could spend 1 hour with her?
Go on more adventures! I love traveling and I didn’t do it very much as a young adult, I wish I had gotten started earlier!
It can be difficult to pinpoint one single woman who inspired you in your life and career. When you step back and think about the multitude of women in your life, what would you say to those who have supported you and been a sounding board in your career?
I can always count on my mother to give me sound advice. She doesn’t sugarcoat much so I know I’m getting the truth when we talk about my career and my future. I can appreciate that from her and use any advice she may give me whether it’s tough to hear or not.
Tell us about an ancestor or woman in your family whose story has been passed down to you.
My auntie Gloria who passed away about ten years ago was known to be a huge Raider fan. She wasn’t afraid to let people know she loved that team and she wasn’t ever afraid to let her crazy flag fly high. She was always true to herself and never let anyone convince her to be more subtle. I loved how she didn’t care what anyone thought.
What is your personal mission in life and how do you fold that into the work you do?
To just be happy. I enjoy the simple things in life and I try to extend that into my work.
What is your superpower?
I can teach an old dog new tricks!
From where do you draw your strength, creativity and stamina to keep going?
Knowing I have two very supportive dogs at home waiting for me.
